5 ideas to "survive" the first Easter heat wave with children (without screens)

Easter week is the dress rehearsal for summer. Suddenly we switch from warm coats to the shade, and the children, who have been "hibernating" at school, are bursting with energy. Anyone spending these days outdoors already knows that a successful spring afternoon depends on three things: sufficient fluids, entertainment, and shelter.

Here are some practical tips to ensure your short break doesn't end in drama due to heat or boredom.

🍓 1. The refreshing snack: The “fruit rainbow”

Children become picky eaters around the age of five or six. A colorful picnic is always a hit on Easter outings.

Instead of a whole fruit that oxidizes, prepare a bowl with strawberries, mango pieces, and grapes (halved lengthwise). The natural fructose and water are important: they give children the necessary energy boost to continue playing, without the sugar crash like with processed pastries.

🕶️ 2. The challenge of spring light

Many people make the mistake of only starting to use sun protection in July. However, the sun is already strong during Holy Week, and the eyes of children between 4 and 8 years old are still very sensitive .

To ensure that putting on protective gear doesn't become a problem, it should be part of the "explorer's set." If the accessory is fun or has colors reminiscent of the child's favorite fruits, it will no longer be a chore, but rather a favorite toy in the adventure set.

🌳 3. Botanical “Treasure Hunt” Games

If you're going to the countryside or a large park, take advantage of the fact that spring is in full swing. Create a short list on your phone:

• Something yellow.

• A heart-shaped leaf.

• A smooth stone.

• The call of a bird.

This allows their attention to remain focused on their surroundings, and you can enjoy a coffee or conversation in peace while they explore your environment.

🍦 4. Homemade ice cream

Those staying home can easily make their own fruit popsicles. Simply blend overripe fruit with a little yogurt or coconut water and freeze. The perfect reward after a morning full of sunshine and games.

💡 A small backpack idea

When you pack your bag to go out these days, remember the rule of three basic rules :

1. Always keep the water fresh (a small thermos is essential).

2. Eye and sun protection (it should be flexible and able to withstand falls, because we all know how little ones are at this age).

3. Wear clothes in layers : The well-known "onion effect" for the time when it gets cooler after sunset.

At its core, enjoying Easter means simplifying it. Fewer rigid plans and more space for children to discover the world at their own pace – well protected and with full bellies of treats.
